Maybe We Don't Need a Two-Week Vacation

Hi friends,

There are trips you spend months planning. And then there are the ones your soul starts planning before you ever open a travel website. Lately, I've caught myself thinking about one thing. Not Europe. Not Alaska. Not some once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Just the same little three-night cruise Jim and I have taken before. Same ship. Same cabin. Same balcony. Why? Because for three days I don't have to decide what's for dinner. I don't have to make an itinerary. I don't have to figure out where we're going next.

Wake up with a cup of coffee on the balcony. Spend the afternoon with a good book. Have a glass of wine up on the 19th deck while the sun starts to set. Then wake up the next morning and do it all again.

The older I get, the more I realize something. Sometimes the greatest luxury isn't going farther. It's carrying less. Less responsibility. Less noise. Less pressure to make every minute productive.

I don’t think I’m the only one craving that. Every woman I know is juggling something. Work. Family. Parents. Grandchildren. Volunteer commitments. Businesses. Friends. Life. A dog who is 122 years old in human years—and who we don’t leave for long.

And somewhere in the middle of taking care of everyone else, we forget that we're allowed to rest, too. Not because we've earned it. Simply because we're human. So today I have a question. If someone handed you three uninterrupted days... What would you do with them?

Would you head for the ocean? Disappear into the mountains? Find a quiet little inn? Or would your perfect getaway be sitting on your own porch with a good book and your phone turned off? I'd genuinely love to know. Just hit Reply. I read every one.

And because this has been on my heart lately... I created something for you. It's called Three Days to Breathe. It's a simple little guide designed to help you plan a getaway without turning it into another project. No complicated itinerary. No pressure. Just permission to slow down. To just be. To relax. To restore your soul.

I would love it if you like this newsletter, to please share it with your besties

Hey there! If you've been a part of this community for a long time or a short time, I realized there 's someone I haven't introduced you to. A lot of you found me because of packing. Some of you came because of travel. Some because of St. Augustine. And some of you have been around long enough to remember completely different versions of BetsiWorld. But I realized something recently. You know a lot about what I know. You know I can pack a suitcase. You know I travel. You know I write. You...
